Pakistan's 1970 general election was held on 7 December 1970. In West Pakistan, Pakistan Peoples Party won the most National Assembly seats, 78 of the 136 covered here, followed by independents (16) and PML-Qayyum (9). 671 candidates contested the National Assembly seats. In the provincial assemblies, PPP won the most seats in Punjab (114 of 180), PPP won the most seats in Sindh (28 of 59), NAP-W won the most seats in NWFP (11 of 40) and NAP-W won the most seats in Balochistan (9 of 20). The closest National Assembly result was NW-23 Tribal Area, decided by 31 votes; the largest margin was 74,616 votes in NW-101 Bahawalpur.
