Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) won the most National Assembly seats, 138 of the 207 covered here, followed by independents (20) and PPP (18). 1,745 candidates contested the National Assembly seats. In the provincial assemblies, PML-N won the most seats in Punjab (211 of 240), PPP won the most seats in Sindh (36 of 99), PML-N won the most seats in NWFP (32 of 80) and BNP won the most seats in Balochistan (9 of 40). The closest National Assembly result was NA-189 Karachi South, decided by 312 votes; the largest margin was 92,047 votes in NA-188 Karachi Central.
