What this site covers
Constituency results for Pakistan's 12 general elections from 1970 to 2024: the National Assembly and the Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NWFP before 2010) and Balochistan assemblies. It also covers by-elections from 2008 onwards, the Azad Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections (2016, 2021, 2026) and the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections (2009, 2015, 2020, 2026).
In total: 8,689 general-election seat results, 250 by-elections, 222 AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan contests, and 95,328 candidate results.
Where the results come from
The results were compiled from constituency-level results published online. They are not official figures. They may differ from the Election Commission of Pakistan's final notified results, for example after recounts, re-polls or decisions by election tribunals.
How the data was prepared
- Party names were standardised, so spellings such as "PML(N)", "PML -N" and "PMLN" count as one party. Labels whose meaning changed are treated by period: before 2002, "PML-Q" means the Pakistan Muslim League (Qayyum), not the Quaid-e-Azam League founded in 2002.
- Alliances (such as IJI, PDA, PNA and MMA) are shown as they contested, not split into member parties.
- Provinces of National Assembly seats were assigned from district names and checked against each province's block of seat numbers. Tribal areas (FATA) are shown separately until 2018, when they merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
- Vote share is each candidate's votes as a share of all votes for the listed candidates. Rejected votes and turnout are not included.
- Winning margin is the winner's votes minus the runner-up's.
- Unopposed seats (131 in total, mostly in 1977) are shown as "returned unopposed", with no vote count.
- Duplicates: a few delayed 2018 polls were listed both as general results and as by-elections; only the general result is kept.
- Seat numbers are reassigned when boundaries are redrawn. Comparisons with earlier elections (such as "seats that changed hands") only use seats whose number and area are the same in both elections.
- Summaries on each page are generated from the data: every figure in them comes from the results, and a sentence is left out when a figure is missing.
- Election symbols (2018 and 2024) come from the published candidate lists. A candidate is only given a symbol when they can be matched to the list without doubt, and a party's symbol is only shown when the lists agree on it. Many 2024 list entries have no candidate name, so fewer 2024 candidates have a symbol.
- Party colours follow the colours Wikipedia uses for each party.
Known gaps
- 1970 covers West Pakistan only; East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) results are not included.
- 1985 was held on a non-party basis, so candidates have no party.
- The 2026 AJK election was held in phases and polling was postponed in some constituencies; results for LA-18 to LA-24 are not available.
- Results are missing for 2018 PP-6, 1985 NA-5 and Gilgit-Baltistan 2015 GBLA-19.
- 203 candidate results have no vote count. These are shown as "—".
- Reserved seats for women and minorities are not elected by direct vote and are not included.
